Schneiderlin set for Everton move

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is set to complete a £22 million move to Everton, according to The Telegraph.

The Toffees have been in negotiations with United since the January transfer window opened and the deal for the 27-year-old is set to go through in the next 48 hours, with a reunion with Ronald Koeman, who was Schneiderlin’s manager at Southampton, on the cards.

The clubs reached a breakthrough in negotiations on Tuesday and Schneiderlin is set to be cleared to undergo a medical at Everton’s Finch Farm complex. The deal could go up to £24 million, the fee United paid for the French international two seasons ago, with add-on clauses included.

Fellow Premier League side West Brom were also in the picture for Schneiderlin’s services, with a rumoured £18 million offer rebuffed by United earlier in the transfer window.

But the Toffees seem to have won the race for Schneiderlin, who has barely featured under José Mourinho this season.

He has only made 8 appearances for United, with most of those being short cameos off the bench. His only starts for the Reds have come in the Europa League and EFL Cup, with two of those ending up in defeats to Feyenoord and Fenerbahce.

Schneiderlin was a much more prominent figure during Louis van Gaal’s time at the club, making 42 appearances under the Dutch manager and winning the FA Cup, although he did not come off the bench as United beat Crystal Palace in extra time at Wembley.
