In a fashion that’s become somewhat of a trademark of this season, Manchester United huffed and puffed but could not find a winner against a resilient Hull City side at Old Trafford.
United were left ruing a good chance squandered by Paul Pogba in the first half after a late onslaught came to no avail. Juan Mata had United’s best opportunity of the game midway through the second half but was denied by an excellent save from Eldin Jakupovic at point blank range.
Hull themselves had an excellent chance to grab a winner of their own after newly signed ex-Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic found space in the box, but could only hit the upright.
The draw will be looked upon as a massive missed opportunity, given the fact that Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal had all dropped points on Tuesday night. United are four points off of fourth place as it stands.
