Manchester United defender Phil Jones has returned to training after a spell on the sidelines in recent weeks and is hoping to feature in the Reds’ clash against Bournemouth on Saturday.
The centre-back has been missing from José Mourinho’s side since picking up a foot injury against Hull City at the start of February but feels that he is ready to feature for the Reds again, starting with this weekend’s fixture at Old Trafford.

Speaking at the launch of a new club partnership, Jones told MUTV:
Yes [it’s positive news], I’ve been training for the last few days and I’m looking forward to coming back.
I think I’ve been out for three weeks so, even if I trained two days before the [EFL Cup final] game, which I did, I didn’t expect to be involved. It was difficult really and a bit disappointing but these things happen.
Still, it was a brilliant day for the fans, the players, the staff and the manager. It wasn’t probably our best performance but when you look back in 10 years, it’s not how well we played but whether we won or not and, ultimately, we won.

After missing the first part of the season with injury problems, Jones has been an integral part of the United defence, playing almost every game between the start of November and February, up and until picking up the injury against Hull.
However, the 25-year-old will have to fight his way back into a starting place, with Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo all featuring in the heart of defence in his absence.
