Today, it was announced that Bastian Schweinsteiger would be leaving Manchester United in order to join MLS outfit Chicago Fire.
His, albeit expected, departure will leave United short of options in midfield going into the summer transfer window, especially if they suffer a second loss with Michael Carrick still yet to decide if he’ll retire or not after this season.
Jose Mourinho sanctioned a world-record move to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford last summer and while no one expects United to spend even close to that figure on another midfielder in the next transfer window, reinforcements are needed.
Here are a number of top quality midfield options for Mourinho and United to consider.
