Paul Pogba is among a host of Manchester United players available again to play against Celta Vigo in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday night.
The Frenchman, along with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, returned to training at Carrington on Wednesday afternoon as José Mourinho’s side prepared for their trip to the north of Spain.
In the pre-match press conference, Mourinho also confirmed that Eric Bailly would be fit to face Celta at Balaidos, while Luke Shaw would be out for the rest of the season with an ‘important’ injury, which has been reported to be ligament damage in his foot.
The United boss said:
Smalling and Jones. And Pogba [are back]. Bailly is ready to play. Shaw has an important injury and we are waiting for one more opinion before the medical department decides what to do. But he is out for the season.
Mourinho also added that Juan Mata could start but would not last the 90 minutes after recently recovering from groin surgery, having made the bench in the 1-1 draw against Swansea at the weekend:
Mata was injured for a while, but he’s ready to play. He’s experienced, he’s one of the few players that has played European semi-finals and finals, so it’s nothing new for him. The only risk is that he probably can’t play 90 minutes. But from the bench, no problem for him to play.
