The best and worst period in football is underway – the transfer merry-go-round.
If your club gets business done early, or seals a marquee transfer on deadline day, it can be very exciting – but if they drag their heels and let the rumours fly around for weeks on end, it can get very tedious – and to be honest, it’s often both.
Manchester United revealed on Saturday evening that they have agreed a deal with Portuguese side Benfica for the transfer of Swedish centre-back Victor Nilsson Lindelof – who will become the club’s first signing of the summer providing that he can agree personal terms and pass a medical.
Obviously, in-comings won’t be the only concern for United though – some players will inevitably leave the club during this summer window.
