Reading manager and ex-Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has confirmed that the Championship club were interested in securing the signature of Manchester United forward James Wilson in the summer and are weighing up a move for him in January, according to a report on the Reading Chronicle.
The Championship side were interested in Wilson last summer but failed to make a move for him but Stan is eager to open negotiations with the Red Devils over Wilson in a few months.

Stam said:
I know about it and we already spoke about him [Wilson] in June. But at the moment there is nothing in that.
I’m not going to name names, but we are looking at players. We’re looking at the team, how we are set up and asking whether we need to do anything and bring in players in certain areas.
Wilson has been on the fringe of the first team squad so far this season and the 21-year-old will be looking for a move to ensure more playing time.
It is understood that United would prefer a loan move for Wilson as he is one of the most highly-rated products from the youth academy and could be a starter for the Old Trafford club in the future.
