The result sets the tie up perfectly ahead of the return game in three weeks time at Old Trafford where United will expect to go through.
United boss Jose Mourinho elected to leave out Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial as he selected a move negative side that he needed too.
United had a number of chances throughout the game but were also thankful to goalkeeper David De Gea who kept his side in the game with a number of top quality saves.

A solid performance from the captain on the night as he got forward well and got into some great positions.
Looked out of his depth in this tie with some sloppy passing and poor positioning at times.
A poor performance from the central defender as he continues to struggle at the heart at the defence.
A quiet night for the full back as he struggled to get down the wing with quality on to many occasions.
Another dogid performance from the Serbian international at the heart of the United midfield in a brilliant performance.
A strong performance for the youngster on his first UCL start as he performed well in the midfield.
Saw his night cut short after just 17 minutes but performed well whilst he was on.
A quiet night from the Spanish midfielder as he failed to offer too much in an attacking sense and was brought off late on.

Was very poor on the night as he should be running games like this and he was well off it.
A quiet night for the Belgian but he worked hard throughout and gave everything for his team.
Paul Pogba- 6 Struggled to control the game like he normally does despite coming on early in the first half.
Marcus Rashford- 7 Was only on for 15 minutes but made a positive impact on the game.
