Samuel Umtiti was interviewed and asked about a possible move to Manchester United, where he has been linked to in the last transfer window and already being linked to for the next window, according to Goal.
It has been reported on many occasions that José Mourinho is keen on bringing Umtiti to Old Trafford, with the 24-year-old being rated by the United manager at a reported £60m.
Umtiti has been excellent for FC Barcelona this season, who are still unbeaten in La Liga and are nine points clear of second-placed Atlético de Madrid.
The Catalan giants are also in the final of the Copa del Rey where they face Sevilla, and are 4-1 up after the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie against AS Roma.
Umtiti was interviewed after the 4-1 victory over Roma on Wednesday night and said (via Goal):
It’s not only Manchester United, other clubs want me as well, but my sole focus is on Barcelona.
Negotiations for a contract renewal have not started yet.
My release clause is low, but that’s not what I worry about, I focus on the pitch.
Umtiti has been a huge part of the Ernesto Valverde revolution at the Camp Nou, which is working excellently. But Mourinho may be able to end Umtiti’s tenure in Catalonia and bring him to Manchester.
