Manchester United are close to securing a £44m deal to sign Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred this summer.
According to claims from the Telegraph, the Brazilian midfielder is set to join the Red Devils in the near future after discussions between the two clubs have progressed well.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time now and it appears as though United have beaten Manchester City in the race for his signature.

Although the figure touted by the Telegraph is £44m for the transfer of Fred to United, it’s stated that once negotiations have concluded, a sum of £50m could be paid by Jose Mourinho’s side, along with additional bonuses.
Fred enjoyed a superb season at Shakhtar and established himself as one of the most impressive players in the Ukrainian top-flight.
Shakhtar are understood to have already lined up replacements for Fred, with it seemingly just being a matter of time before he puts pen to paper on a deal to join Manchester United.
