Romero’s wife claims he actually is fit for World Cup

Sergio Romero’s wife has come out and publicly said that the Argentine keeper is fit for the World Cup, but has been snubbed by his home country for the trip to Russia next month, according to The Mirror.

Instead of the backup Red Devils keeper, Jorge Sampaoli has decided to take Nahuel Guzman, Willy Caballero and Franco Armani to the World Cup.

It was released that Romero had suffered a knee injury which would keep him out of action for the entire tournament.

However, his wife, Eliana Guercio, has said that her husband is fully fit and would have been fine, and she is “tired of the lies.”

Guercio has said (via The Mirror):

There’s nothing broken. It’s a piece of loose cartilage.

The doctors told him he was OK for the World Cup. The recovery [from the injury] is two to three weeks maximum.

But with how my husband is and the effort he puts in he could be ready for the first game.

There are many people that want him out. They said it was broken to justify it. I’m tired of the lies.

I don’t know if those that speak are inept, uninformed, cowardly or have personal interest, which in all cases would be the worst reasons.
