Sky Sports are reporting that Fred is close to a switch to Old Trafford, with the Brazilian in advanced talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over the midfielder.
Jose Mourinho has been keen on the midfielder for a while, but it now looks like United are closing in on a switch for Fred.
United reportedly want to secure a deal for the midfielder before this Summer’s World Cup, with Fred set to be on the plane to Russia after being named in Brazil’s squad for the tournament.
Manchester City were keen on signing the midfielder in January. However, Fred is set to choose a move to Old Trafford over a move to the Etihad.
Fred’s advisor, former Arsenal midfielder Gilberto Silva, has spoken in the past about how Fred wanted to play in the Premier League, and a move to United would fulfil his wish.
Fred has been at Shakhtar since 2013, after joining from Internacional from his Native Brazil.
