Manchester United are edging ever closer to securing a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, according to an exclusive report from the Manchester Evening News.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with the Brazilian midfielder in recent months and it seems a deal is finally in place.
Fred enjoyed yet another impressive season with Shakhtar, catching the eye of clubs across Europe. Manchester City had been linked with a move for the player but United have seemingly won the race.

The 25-year-old is currently on international duty, training with the Brazil squad as preparations continue ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
Shakhtar have been playing hardball over the valuation of Fred’s move to United, with the club keen for Jose Mourinho’s men to pay the full extent of the player’s £52.5 million release clause.
United are hopeful that a deal under this price can be agreed with Shakhtar, but there is evidently confidence on both sides that this deal will be pulled over the line in efficient fashion.
