Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk and would like to announce his arrival next week, according to an exclusive report from the MEN.
The Red Devils have been chasing Fred’s signature for months now and appear to have finally secured the midfielder.
Manchester City had hoped to land the Brazilian international but appear to have turned their attention towards the likes of Jorginho, leaving United with a free run at Fred.

The 25-year-old is set to arrive as United’s first signing of the 2018 summer transfer window but a deal for Porto’s right-back, Diogo Dalot is thought to be close to completion.
Fred is set to join for a deal which could amount to £52.5 million if additional bonuses are reached, with Shakhtar having refused to budge on their valuation of the midfielder.
Jose Mourinho will hope to play Fred alongside the likes of Paul Pogba as he bids to help his side mount a genuine title challenge next season.
