Lyon president reveals United want to sign Nabil Fekir

Lyon president Jean-Michael Aulas has revealed that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has contacted him regarding the situation of Nabil Fekir, according to a report on Yahoo Sport.

The Frenchman was on the verge of signing for Liverpool prior to the world cup but the move collapsed when the Merseyside club and Aulas could not agree on a fee.

Ligue 1 side Lyon were asking for £60m for Fekir, with Liverpool reportedly only ready to pay £50m for him.

With Liverpool seemingly missing out, United boss Mourinho is eager to swoop in for the playmaker and has been keeping a close eye on him during the world cup group stages.

When speaking about United’s interest, Aulas said:

I was with Jose Mourinho the other day. We had long discussions.

Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool. At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup.

Mourinho is desperate to add more quality to his squad to challenge Manchester City next season and Fekir could be the man to add fluidity to United’s attack.

However, Fekir has had his fair share of injury problems, which was one of the concerns that Liverpool had when trying to sign him.
