Manchester United could still sign Real Madrid star Gareth Bale this summer after passing up the opportunity to lure Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester, the Express reports.
Yesterday it was confirmed that Ronaldo has completed a move to Juventus for a huge £105million.
However, this may not necessarily put Real off also letting Bale go this summer.
The Welsh international is looking for reassurances from new boss Julen Lopetegui that he will get more game time this season.
Manchester United are continuing to monitor Bale’s situation and it is believed that should the winger decide he wants a move away from Spain this summer, that Real would be prepared to sell.
Jose Mourinho is a long-term admirer of Bale and is keen to add him to his attacking options at United but Real would be wanting a fee of £105m, the same fee Juve paid for Ronaldo.
Bale’s agent Jonathan Barrett provided an update on his player’s future last month.
I think he is in the top three or four players on earth, so for somebody like him, he wants to play.
It’s not about money and not about anything else. He wants to play and wants to win the Ballon d’Or, and I think he is capable of doing it.
I think we have to have a chat with Real Madrid and see where we are going.
Obviously he wants a better year than he had last year. He wants to play more, and that’s paramount to him.
