After an impressive World Cup tournament, rumours have resurfaced suggesting that Croatian forward Ivan Perisic could be in line for a big summer move to Manchester United.
However, according to Ciaran Kelly of the Mirror, this is not the case.
After returning home after helping Croatia to their first ever World Cup final, the 29-year-old was quizzed by reporters about the speculation regarding a move to Old Trafford.
Perisic downplayed the suggested rumours and claimed he has “No plans to leave Inter Milan this summer.”
Perisic scored in Sunday’s 4-2 World Cup final defeat to France, adding to the goal he scored in the semi-finals against England.
Last season, Perisic was sublime in helping Inter Milan end a six-year absence from the UEFA Champions League. Scoring 11 goals and creating seven assists, he was at the front of a successful season for both club and country.
Perisic was scheduled to join United last year, however, negotiations between the club and player broke down after a transfer fee agreement was met.
United manager Jose Mourinho was coy when asked why the deal broke down last summer and it seems as though a deal is no longer on the cards.
This turn in events may lead to United targeting a fellow Croatian, Ante Rebic, who is valued at £40 million by his club Eintracht Frankfurt.
Rebic scored nine times last season in 28 league appearances and has attracted interest from other top English clubs such as Tottenham and Arsenal.
Who United target now the Perisic deal seems off the cards is currently unknown but it seems like Mourinho is key to continue improving his squad before the new season.
