According to a report in the Daily Mirror, Matteo Darmian has declared that he wants to leave Manchester United this summer, and there seems to be a number of Italian clubs that are interested in acquiring his signature.
Napoli seem like they are the closest to signing the 28-year-old, as the club’s president, Aurelio di Laurentiis, recently confirmed that they have made a loan offer for the versatile defender, which will then become a permanent move next summer.
Darmian, who moved to United from Torino in 2015, wants to leave United as he is not getting the game time that he wants – last season, he made just 8 Premier League appearances.

With Antonio Valencia and new signing Diego Dalot both seemingly ahead of Darmian in the pecking order, it makes sense that he is looking for another club.
However, he might not be allowed to leave this transfer window as Valencia and Dalot are both currently out injured, leaving United extremely short of right-backs ahead of their opening Premier League game against Leicester on the 8th August.
