Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has said that goalkeeper David De Gea wishes to remain at Old Trafford beyond the conclusion of this season, the Mirror reports.
De Gea’s contract with the Red Devils runs out at the end of the season and the Spaniard is yet to put pen-to-paper on new terms.
The goalkeeper does, however, have the option for a further 12-month stay on his current contract with United are expected to utilise.
Following Tuesday night’s Champions League victory over Young Boys, Mourinho told press that he believes De Gea wishes to remain at the club for the foreseeable future, despite constant links with a move away from the club.
I know he wants to stay.
I know his agent is happy to do what the player wants and I also know that the board wants him to stay and they are working on that. So hopefully, sooner or later, they arrive at a good conclusion.
