Ole’s days are numbered after Burnley defeat
The Burnley defeat has to be one of the lowest points of the season so far for Manchester United, it was a cold night with a lack of quality players on the pitch and not much better on the bench.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is an absolute legend and I am never going to call for his sacking, because I’m not sure any manager could do much better with the absolute shambles of a squad assembled at Old Trafford right now, it’s downright embarrassing.
Of course, one could argue that bringing on Luke Shaw and Jesse Lingard in a search in a search for goals was probably not the best idea, especially when neither have them have a goal or assist in the league this season (WhoScored).
But the main point here is, is that there were no other attacking players that could be called on, Rashford is out and that means the entire attack is ruined. Daniel James shone at first but lacks in his end product, Anthony Martial doesn’t do enough to play as a lone striker and Mason Greenwood should be starting.
Ed Woodward and the board will be running out of patience by now, especially with the fact that they’re the ones being called out in the stands and rightly so. They have not made any signings yet during this window, typically leaving it to the last minute as they always do and still haven’t recruited a director of football despite searching for months right now.
Sure, Ole might not be the tactical genius we had all hoped for him, but then if a director of football with experience was brought in, then there would be help with making signings and with the tactical side of the game. However, nobody seems to want to go within a mile of the role, so much so, there hasn’t even been anyone rumoured with the position.
