  • Claims only Ballon d’Or winner is better than him

In a recent TikTok video for ShootForLoveWorld, Ryan Giggs claimed he was a better footballer than Raheem Sterling, Neymar, and two Chelsea and Liverpool legends.

The 13-time Premier League winner recently took part in a viral challenge where the goal is simple: stay silent until a player better than yourself is said.

Facing stars like Raphinha and Robert Pires, the Manchester United legend held his composure, refusing to break his silence until he came against Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldinho. He’d snubbed former Chelsea winger Eden Hazard and Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane before admitting defeat to the Brazilian.

Just moments before facing the Brazilian icon Ronaldinho, Giggs took eight seconds to deliberate between himself and Neymar, breathing in deeply as he calculated, then slowly shook his head.

Giggs will tear you apart

“A young Giggsy was like a Ballet Dancer. I had never seen a young player like that and I had seen the Busby Babes,” said former Manchester United youth coach Eric Harrison.

And in many ways, he is right.

A nimble, lightning-quick player who seemed to make the ball cling to his feet, Giggs was part of the illustrious Class of ’92, the generation that would later dominate Europe in football.

One of just 57 players to surpass 1,000 competitive matches, Giggs amassed a trophy-laden career, claiming 35 honours total (26 major).

Giggs claimed 13 Premier League titles—the most ever by any player in Europe’s top five leagues—along with four FA Cups, four League Cups, two Champions League crowns (including one as part of a historic treble), and a constellation of other honours that illuminate his extraordinary career.

Not only that, Giggs earned the PFA Young Player of the Year twice, claimed PFA Players’ Player of the Year, featured in the PFA Team of the Century, received five PFA Team of the Year nominations, and racked up a casual 162 Premier League assists—56 more than second‑placed Kevin De Bruyne.

Simply put, Giggs built a career glittering with glory that few other players could even dream of achieving.

A one-club man—never leaving Manchester United—Giggs played a total of 963 games for the club, scoring 168 times and assisting approximately 273.

Only Neymar, Messi, Angel Di Maria, and Cristiano Ronaldo have tallied more assists than the Welshman in the Champions League, but UEFA only began officially recording assists in the 2006/07 season.

According to OPTA, Giggs registered 41 assists, drawing level with Di María and sitting just one behind his former teammate Ronaldo.

Is Giggs better than the likes of Neymar, Hazard and Ronaldinho? That is up for you to decide.

But there is no doubt that the tricky winger born in Canton ranks among the most technically gifted players ever to grace the field.

It is not often the House of Commons will recognise a player’s achievements, but they did just that for Giggs. “It (the House) recognises that his skills have been admired throughout the world, that 20 years on he is the country’s most decorated player and that he is widely seen as a role model for team-mates and young footballers everywhere”
