Who is Jaydan Kamason? Manchester United Teen Signs New Contract
  • Manchester United academy prospect Jaydan Kamason has signed a new long-term contract
  • The deal runs until 2028, with the option of a further year
  • The 19-year-old full-back has been with the club since joining at age 10

Manchester United academy prospect Jaydan Kamason has signed a new contract with the Red Devils, keeping him at the club until 2028, with the option to extend by a further year.

The 19-year-old full-back has impressed at the club so far, making 15 appearances for the Under-21s across Premier League Two, Premier League International Cup and National League Cup this season.

Kamason may have scored just a solitary goal for the U21S this season, but it was an 81st-minute winner against arch-rivals Liverpool.

The youngster has been at the club for nine years, joining originally from grassroots side Stockport Vikings.

Who is Jaydan Kamason?

After being invited to train with United’s first team in August, Jayden Kamason has continued to impress coaches at Carrington.

The 19-year-old is waiting for his first team debut, but was named on the bench for both the home and away legs of Manchester United’s UEFA Europa League quarter-final tie against Lyon.

A rapid, attack-minded presence down the right flank, Kamason possesses the attributes to become a long-term Manchester United asset. As an Emerging Talent Programme graduate, he also became the first player from the scheme to sign a professional contract with the club.

Como 1907 scout Ben Mattison described the right-back as “physically superior in every sense” during last year’s FA Youth Cup quarter-final against Arsenal.

Playing at the Emirates Stadium, Kamason helped dismantle a side featuring the Premier League’s youngest-ever goalscorer, Max Dowman, as United came from behind to win 3-2 and reach the semi-finals.

Mattison added: “He has the pace to beat players down the line, recover and cover huge spaces, physicality in duels, and even late in games, the engine to surge down the right-hand side.”

Kamason would score the second goal in the match for Manchester United, an equaliser that he thrashed home past goalkeeper Jack Porter with just six minutes left to play, cancelling out Max Dowman’s penalty.

What’s next for Kamason?

The right-back will aim to join United’s pre-season squad unless the club decides to loan him out early in the summer.

With Diogo Dalot heading to the World Cup with Portugal, there will be opportunities for Kamason to feature for the first team, albeit in non-competitive fixtures. It would be a milestone moment for the right-back who has yet to feature in any first-team action.

His focus now will turn to facing Real Madrid Castilla in the Premier League International Cup, with a place in the semi-finals up for grabs. If United win, they become the only English side remaining in the competition.
