  • Stuttgart could make it hard for Manchester United
  • Release clause might be wiped out soon
  • German cannot stop contract change

Manchester United are in the market for a Casemiro replacement, and the Red Devils have identified a host of targets. The Brazilian will be leaving at the end of the season and has already announced his decision.

Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton have been touted as the key targets this summer, with Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães also said to be on the radar. Those players have Premier League experience, but the Old Trafford side will face some tough competition.

Another player linked with the switch is Angelo Stiller, who has been in fine form for Stuttgart. The German star will enter the final two years of his deal this summer, but the Bundesliga club aren’t keen on losing him.

Manchester United Handed Stiller Setback

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Stiller has a €40 million release clause in his contract. The midfielder is open to leaving the Bundesliga club this summer, but a clause in his deal could see the fee rise.

The report states that the German side have a €2 million buy-out clause to remove the €40 million release clause. The 25-year-old cannot reject the buy-out, and interested clubs will have to negotiate a fee with Stuttgart in the summer.

Apart from Manchester United, several Premier League sides are also keeping tabs on Stiller ahead of the summer window. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been linked with moves for the German.

Stiller on Future Plans

Stiller spoke to Sports Illustrated earlier this season, saying he was not considering leaving Stuttgart. He was happy at the club, but hinted that Florian Wirtz’s move to Liverpool had got him thinking about the Premier League.

The German confirmed that playing in the United States is a career goal, and he wants to end his career with a stint in the MLS.

“I’m currently not thinking about a move. Generally speaking, I’m interested in moving abroad at some point; I thought Florian Wirtz’s decision to go to Liverpool was cool. But only one thing is certain for me: At the end of my career, I absolutely want to play in the USA, in the MLS. This is 100% my plan, my goal.”

Liverpool were also linked with a move for Stiller, and the Reds could rejoin the race this summer. He is regarded as one of the best midfield talents in Germany.
