- Manchester United eye up Tottenham Hotspur star
- Fotrward could force a move with his side struggling
- Chelsea also interested
Manchester United have entered the race alongside Chelsea for Mohammed Kudus, who now looks increasingly likely to leave Tottenham Hotspur amid their relegation battle.
Spurs’ situation threatens to spiral into a full-scale exodus. The North London side have not dropped out of the top flight since the 1976/77 season, but their current trajectory offers little resistance to that possibility.
In the 2026 calendar year, they have played 14 Premier League matches without a single win, collecting just five points from draws. Project that across a full campaign, and it equates to a meagre 13 points—relegation form by any standard.
With West Ham United, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United all pulling clear, the likelihood of players seeking exits continues to grow. That leaves Kudus as one of the standout opportunities on the market—though United would need to fend off Chelsea to secure his signature.
Kudus’ Spurs Situation
After joining from West Ham United last summer for £55 million, Kudus adapted instantly, embedding himself as a key figure within the Spurs setup. Up until the turn of the year, he had missed just three matches—including the 2-2 draw against United.
Then came the setback. A thigh injury sustained against Sunderland halted his momentum, and he has not featured since.
Without him, Spurs have collapsed further—picking up just three points and sliding from 13th to 18th, their decline accelerating at precisely the wrong moment.
The Ghanian has missed 12 straight Premier League matches, completely missed the Igor Tudor era, and is now on his third manager of the season—Roberto Di Zerbi—despite playing under just one.
Kudus on the move?
Kudus’ future could lie way from Spurs if they are relegated. According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, United and Chelsea are the clubs showing the strongest interest:
“Among the clubs that have shown the most interest are Manchester United and Chelsea. Both teams are looking to strengthen their attacking options and believe Kudus can bring dynamism and depth to their respective squads.”
The outlet insists that Kudus is “not considering playing in the Championship.” He wants to continue playing in the top tier of European football, which is why a departure is likely should the Lilywhites suffer the drop.
Ten Hag Wanted Kudus
While Kudus’ talent remains unquestionable, a move to Manchester United this summer would still come as a surprise. The Ghanaian offers versatility across the frontline, but he operates most effectively from the right—an area already well stocked.
Bringing him in would likely mean displacing Amad or intensifying competition in a role that hardly lacks it. A few years ago, the fit looked cleaner.
Manchester United’s former manager Erik ten Hag reportedly pushed hard to bring Kudus in during January 2023, identifying him as a key addition to United’s attack, per Manchester Evening News.
Financial constraints stalled the move, forcing the club to pivot to a loan for Wout Weghorst instead. Their connection runs deeper than transfer links. Kudus developed under Ten Hag at Ajax, where the Dutchman spoke glowingly of his potential:
“He did very well, you can see the incredible potential that boy has. We are going to get a lot of enjoyment out of him. He can play in multiple positions and that versatility can help us a lot this year.”
Had Ten Hag turned to Kudus over Antony in the summer of 2022, the entire attacking narrative at United might now read altogether differently. But for now, he finds himself in the midst of an injury-prone season at Spurs that could lead to relegation.
