Manchester United have added another name to their summer transfer list, as the club looks to target the versatile Sunderland youngster Noah Sadiki.

Sadiki, a Belgian-born DR Congo national football team international, is an adaptable midfielder who has played half his games as a defensive midfielder, with the other half at centre-back.

Whilst United are nonplussed about the centre-back aspect—despite the current crisis, they have five fully capable centre-halves in Matthijs De Ligt, Ayden Heaven, Leny Yoro, Harry Maguire, and Lisandro Martinez—the club is actively seeking midfield reinforcement, with Casemiro, and possibly Manuel Ugarte, set to depart this summer in what will likely be a revolving-door window.

The Red Devils face competition from Chelsea, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, and Arsenal in the race for Sadiki, as he looks set to leave Sunderland this summer in pursuit of a step up the table.

With United currently favourites for the UEFA Champions League places, they hold the stronger hand in negotiations, and it appears increasingly probable that Sadiki will lean towards the Manchester route..

Sadiki Likely to Move

According to transfer specialist Sacha Tavolieri, Manchester United and Chelsea are the “front runners” to sign the Congolese international.

Sadiki has yet to “make a decision,” but United hold the advantage due to “being almost guaranteed a Champions League spot next year.”

With United targeting a host of midfielders this summer, Sadiki could slot in seamlessly as one of the more mid-range acquisitions.

Whilst the Red Devils prioritise the likes of Elliot Anderson as their primary option to strengthen the midfield, Sadiki comfortably fits within that secondary price bracket.

Having joined for £15 million last year from Union Saint-Gilloise, the Belgian could now command a fee in the region of £50 million, though United may hold a bargaining chip in Ugarte that could lower the price—or even facilitate a straight swap deal.

Regis Le Bris Hails Sadiki

Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has taken a real shine to Noah Sadiki this season, with the Frenchman full of praise for the centre-back/midfielder hybrid.

In a glowing verdict of Sadiki and his ‘quality,’ Le Bris said, “We can forget that he is only 20.

“He is a really good player. He has a different personality, but I think he is really smart to understand what is needed to go further, he looks at what type of specific profile he needs to progress – technical, physical.”

However, Le Bris had more to say.

“You don’t always find the same profile with every player – he has his own characteristics, but I think they fit well with the demands of the Premier League.”

Manchester United will now play out their remaining six Premier League fixtures before making any move for the Congolese international.

Tonight, they face Chelsea in a Champions League-defining clash—one that could shape the trajectory of both clubs’ seasons.

United will look not only to get one over on Chelsea by beating them tonight and effectively securing qualification for the UEFA Champions League, but also to gain the upper hand in the summer race for Sadiki’s signature.
