- Ryan Giggs wants Cole Palmer at Manchester United
- Club are eyeing Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi
- Reds only team without two defeats on the bounce
Manchester United start the week fresh off the back of a crucial 1-0 win over Chelsea. Matheus Cunha scored the winner, firing home in the first half as Bruno Fernandes added yet another assist to his name.
The Reds were in dire need of a victory after suffering a shock 2-1 loss at home to Leeds United last Monday. The three points mean they now sit third in the Premier League, 10 points above the sixth-placed Blues.
While Fernandes was superb once again, Cole Palmer failed to shine for the hosts at Stamford Bridge. But his dissapointing display hasn’t prevented a club legend from wanting him at Old Trafford.
Giggs on Palmer
Ryan Giggs feels Palmer could be a good addition to the United squad if the club were to make a move for the English attacker. He recently downplayed suggestions he’s unhappy in west London but a lack of Champions League football could cast doubts over his future.
Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on the legendary defender’s YouTube channel, Giggs said:
“Yeah he would, Manchester lad. Where would he play, with Obviously Bruno 10, Play off the right possibly, Yeah we talk about Hojlund and Sesko, its only really Bruno who’s creating things, time and time again, What if Bruno’s had a bad day or is Injured. You need three or four players in your squad who can make things happen.”
Palmer has been at Chelsea since the summer of 2023, when he arrived from Manchester City for £40m. He’s since registered 53 goals and 32 assists in 125 games.
Eyeing Kroupi
Another attacker who United seem to be keeping an eye on is Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi. The French starlet has been in sensational form this season, posting 10 goals in 28 league games.
A report from TEAMtalk claims that the Reds could sign the 19-year-old for £60m. The club dispatched scouts to watch him in action for the Cherries in a 2-1 win over Newcastle United on the weekend.
If Kroupi were to arrive, he’d likely be viewed as Joshua Zirkzee’s replacement. The Dutch forward’s future looks to lie away from Old Trafford amid a lack of game time.
Incredible Record
United’s win over Chelsea saw them avoid back-to-back defeats for the first time this season in the Premier League. The next day, Arsenal fell to a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in their title showdown at the Etihad.
As a result, Michael Carrick’s Red Devils are now the only team not to suffer two consecutive defeats in the entire division. It’s a remarkable statistic given the constant losses that occurred last season.
Ruben Amorim also played his part in the record as he oversaw the first five months of the campaign. There are five games left for this be kept intact and also seal Champions League qualification.
