- Manchester United progress on Kobbie Mainoo contract
- Reds show interest in Aurelien Tchouameni
- Leny Yoro set to be available vs Brentford
Manchester United bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Chelsea on the weekend. That started this week off positively and so too has news of a verbal agreement over a contract extension.
It was Harry Maguire who put pen to paper on a new one-year deal earlier this month. But fans have been eagerly waiting news regarding Mainoo committing his future to the club.
Mainoo is expected to be joined by a new midfielder this summer as Casemiro departs. It seems a new name has been added to INEOS’ shortlist.
Mainoo Agreement
Manchester United have reportedly reached a verbal agreement with Kobbie Mainoo over a new contract. The English midfielder looked to be headed for the exit door during Ruben Amorim’s reign.
The appointment of Michael Carrick as Amorim’s successor in January has caused a U-turn. He is now keen on staying with his boyhood club and wants to do so long-term.
It’s claimed that Mainoo is set for a pay increase, which will see him earn £150,000 per week. This reflects his status as a starter.
Tchouameni on Radar
Mainoo is set to be joined by at least one new midfielder this summer, and United now have their sights set on Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni. It’s claimed that the Frenchman has been added to the wishlist alongside Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.
Tchouameni is regarded as one of the best holding midfielders in Europe, but hasn’t exactly won over Madrid during his spell in Spain. He once spoke to former Reds defender Raphael Varane and was told that there’s a different passion that comes with playing in Manchester.
The 26-year-old has made 44 appearances across competitions this season, posting two goals and as many assists. He has just over two years left on his contract.
Yoro Back
United turn their attention to Brentford next Monday (April 27th), and they are set to have Leny Yoro available. The French defender missed the win over Chelsea, forcing Carrick to start Noussair Mazraoui and Ayden Heaven in defence.
Yoro’s injury initially raised concerns that he might not play this season again. But that’s not the case, and he’s likely to be back against the Bees at Old Trafford.
Carrick will have a decision to make at the back, as Maguire will also return from suspension. Heaven was superb at Stamford Bridge, and it feels harsh to drop him.
