- Manchester United eye up Brazilian wonderkid
- Manchester City and Barcelona are also in the race
- Could be a statement signing
Manchester United have reportedly entered the race for Brazilian wonderkid Eduardo Conceicao, as the Red Devils prepare to battle the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City for his signature.
At just 16 years old, Conceicao has already begun to attract attention from Europe’s elite. Despite not yet making a senior appearance for his club side Palmeiras, the forward recently earned a call-up to Brazil’s U-17 South American Championship squad.
Conceicao impressed, scoring twice and providing two assists in five games as he helped Brazil to a third-place finish. One of his goals came in Brazil’s group-stage clash against Argentina, a 3-0 victory that secured not only progression to the knockout rounds, but also qualification for the U-17 World Cup, set to take place in Qatar this November.
Man United Eye Conceicao

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are readying an official €40 million (£34m) fixed offer for Palmeiras prodigy Eduardo Conceicao. The Reds, however, are not the first to attempt to prise the Brazilian away from his homeland.
Fellow Premier League side Newcastle submitted a £21.5m bid—with £12.9m in bonuses—while Napoli tabled £30m upfront. Both offers fell short, with Palmeiras standing firm.
Within Palmeiras, Conceicao is viewed as a unique talent, developing along a different trajectory to recent stars. Youth co-ordinator Joao Paulo Sampaio said:
“Endrick and Estevao always had the spotlight from the age of 11. Eduardo is only getting that attention now — and we don’t know where he can go, which is a good doubt.”
Former Palmeiras Under-20 coach and current Brazil Under-20 assistant Lucas Andrade offered further insight into the player’s profile.
“Eduardo has the profile of a ball-carrying attacking midfielder. He can also play on the left, but his best performances come centrally, as a No 10., he is a dribbler who can break lines both with runs and vertical passes.”
“He has the characteristics for the Premier League, he combines technical quality with physical strength, speed and the ability to deal with contact, which is essential in such an intense league.”
Statement Signing?
If Manchester United pull off this signing, it signals their return to the ‘big boys’ table. There is no doubt that in recent years—particularly since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson—United have lost out on key signings to not only domestic rivals, but Europe’s elite.
While Old Trafford remains a dream destination, a constantly shifting system and ownership prioritising profit margins over footballing direction drives players away.
Even English stars such as Jude Bellingham did not buy into the project, choosing instead to join Borussia Dortmund. This gives United the chance to reassert its authority in the market and show that it is not to be pushed aside.
