- How important this match is
Patrick Dorgu is set to be included in Manchester United‘s squad for tonight’s Brentford clash. The Danish wing-back has remained sidelined since tearing his hamstring in Manchester United’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
The setback arrived at the worst possible moment for Dorgu, who had—after 12 months—finally begun to showcase his potential under interim head coach Michael Carrick.
Across Carrick’s first two matches in charge, Dorgu earned trust on the left flank—a role seldom afforded to him under Ruben Amorim—and the Dane burst into life.
In decisive fixtures against Manchester City and Arsenal, Dorgu delivered commanding performances, scoring in both encounters, with his strike against Arsenal securing Manchester United’s Player of the Month award.
Now, just over three months—92 days to be exact—his return edges closer to reality.
Dorgu’s Return
A report from SullyTalkz claims he will be back for tonight’s game against Brentford. The Dane has worked hard and instead of returning against Liverpool on Sunday, he’s set to be available against the Bews.
Dorgu posted an edited image of himself celebrating on his Instagram story, featuring the crests of both Brentford and Manchester United at the top, alongside an 8 pm kickoff time and Old Trafford as the venue.
Above the image, and beneath the club logos, Dorgu included a religious message: “Patience. Work. Faith. God answers prayer.”
Carrick gave an update on Dorgu during his pre-match press conference on Thursday:
“Patrick [Dorgu]’s working his way to being back. He’s certainly making good progress and back closer to training with us, which is positive, so that’s good news.”
Dorgu’s return would represent a significant boost for United. With Champions League qualification within touching distance, the Red Devils sit just two points shy of mathematically securing their place—provided they claim victory tonight.
Man United vs Brentford
Brentford present no straightforward test. In one of the campaign’s low points, the Bees dismantled Manchester United 3-1 in a fixture laced with controversy.
That result stands as a moment many point to as the beginning of Amorim’s unravelling at the club.
With Dorgu now potentially back in contention, Carrick could name the Dane among the substitutes tonight, with a second-half cameo firmly within reach.
