Legendary former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly been taken to the hospital after feeling unwell at Old Trafford. The Scot was set to attend today’s clash between the Red Devils and Liverpool.
According to Ian Ladyman of The Daily Mail, Ferguson was taken into medical care “purely as a precaution.” Club officials are “optimistic” that he will be back home soon to recuperate.
Ferguson often attends matches at the Theatre of Dreams, although he had an ambassadorial role with the club end last year. He held a near 27-year reign at United, winning 13 Premier League titles along with a host of other trophies.
Sir Alex Taken to Hospital
According to The Sun, the 84-year-old was “whisked to an ambulance” before the game. A source said that the iconic former coach “sat up” and “okay.”
Ferguson was said to have headed home, and we wish the greatest manager well, and hopefully, he recovers. The concern is his history of health issues, including a brain haemorrhage that nearly claimed his life back in May 2018.
Sir Alex revealed in his 2021 film ‘Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In’ that he was told: “There were five brain haemorrhages that day. Three died. Two survived. You know you are lucky.”
