- Manchester United are linked with Morgan Rogers
- Chelsea’s Cole Palmer is a boyhood fan
- Red Devils want a new winger this summer
Manchester United will focus most of their attention this summer on rebuilding the midfield, similarly to last summer’s attacking overhaul. However, that offensive revamp might not yet be complete amid suggestions that the Red Devils are on the hunt for another left-winger.
United started last summer’s business by splashing £62million to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and the Brazilian is currently Michael Carrick’s preferred option. Patrick Dorgu has also showcased his ability to operate further forward, registering five goal involvements in seven Premier League games before his recent 12-week injury lay-off.
But United are expected to address the position again in the coming months, with Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer among those linked. And, due to two significant factors, the club’s recruitment team are reportedly currently leaning towards Rogers over his fellow Englishman.

Morgan Rogers to Man Utd?
According to Ben Jacobs, United’s interest in the Premier League pair is partly linked to the fact that Bruno Fernandes may require a successor in the not-so-distant future.
Both can operate centrally, but it’s claimed that Rogers’ ability to drift into the left channel and impact matches from there makes him more attractive.
The Villa attacker will also likely demand a lesser transfer fee than Palmer, who Chelsea are believed to have no interest in offloading this summer.
Ben Jacobs adds that if Michael Carrick becomes United’s permanent head coach, Rogers would become one of his leading winger targets.
Carrick signed the 23-year-old on loan for the second half of the 2023/24 season during his stint as Middlesbrough manager in the Championship, and the duo struck up a fruitful relationship.
Would Morgan Rogers be a good fit?
Rogers is a quality player who would undoubtedly upgrade United’s firepower ahead of a highly anticipated Champions League return.
However, his profile is similar to Cunha’s. Like Rogers, the current Red Devils No. 10 is also comfortable moving centrally.
He has often covered as a striker in Benjamin Sesko’s place this season and would be in the frame to take on the eventual burden of replacing Fernandes behind the frontman.
If United are committing more of their budget to bolstering the attack, they would be wise to recruit a different style of threat to Cunha. The new head coach needs a winger who is just as comfortable beating his opponents on the outside as cutting inside.
