Manchester United have no interest in selling Benjamin Sesko this summer despite reported interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
TEAMtalk reports that intermediaries acting for both Spanish clubs have made contact around Sesko’s situation. Barcelona have assessed alternatives in case their pursuit of Julian Alvarez stalls, while Atletico are also monitoring the striker market.
United have given a firm response. The report states that the club do not currently see any scenario in which Sesko leaves Old Trafford.
Sesko joined United from RB Leipzig last summer in a deal worth £73.7m and had an uneven start in England. His form improved after Michael Carrick took charge, with Reuters reporting that he scored important goals against Aston Villa and Brentford during United’s run towards Champions League qualification.
ReadManUtd has already looked at how the Julian Alvarez market could influence United’s striker thinking this summer. Sesko’s situation sits on the other side of that debate.
Carrick still needs attacking depth, especially with Joshua Zirkzee’s future uncertain. United have explored other forward options, but Sesko now looks like the centre-forward the club want to protect rather than test in the market.
Roundtable reports that Sesko ended the season with 11 Premier League goals and one assist. Transfermarkt also listed him on 11 goals and one assist during his stronger run in 2026.
Barcelona and Atletico may continue to watch the situation, but United’s position appears clear.
Carrick has backed Sesko as a long-term part of his team. United now need to build the rest of the attack around him, rather than allow another major forward question to open.
