Manchester United could allow Dan Gore to leave this summer despite the midfielder impressing during the early stages of pre-season.
Gore returned to Carrington following an encouraging loan spell with Rotherham United. The 21-year-old established himself as a regular at League One level and was named the club’s Player of the Year.
He also featured during United’s 1-0 pre-season defeat against Wrexham. Gore played in the academy-heavy second-half side and appealed unsuccessfully for a late penalty.
However, The Sun reports that United could sanction another loan or a permanent transfer as Sir Jim Ratcliffe demands greater returns from academy players.

Gore’s route into Michael Carrick’s midfield has become increasingly difficult.
United have spent more than £80million on Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans this summer. Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and several academy prospects will also compete for minutes.
Gore appears to have moved beyond under-21 football following a full season with Rotherham. Another temporary move would need to offer a clear progression, while a permanent sale could generate funds for Carrick’s wider rebuild.
The midfielder remains under contract until 2028, so United are not under immediate pressure to accept a reduced offer.

United must now decide whether Gore can earn a meaningful first-team role. Keeping him without regular opportunities would risk slowing the progress he made at Rotherham.
