Manchester United beat Rosenborg 5-0 as Michael Carrick’s young players produced an impressive pre-season display in Trondheim. Four academy graduates scored, while Joshua Zirkzee added the standout goal of the evening.
Shea Lacey opened the scoring with a curling finish from the edge of the penalty area. The 19-year-old started as United’s No.10 and played an influential role against a Rosenborg side already midway through its domestic season.

Zirkzee doubled the advantage after half-time with a composed individual goal. The Dutch forward deceived two defenders with a dummy before taking the ball around the goalkeeper and finishing into the empty net.
The Sun reports that Jacob Devaney made it 3-0 shortly after coming on. He reacted first following a corner and hooked the ball beyond the Rosenborg goalkeeper.
Harry Amass added the fourth after meeting Jaydan Kamason’s low delivery across the penalty area. Kamason then created another goal, crossing for Ethan Williams to complete the scoring.
The result gave Carrick his first victory of pre-season after United lost 1-0 against Wrexham in Helsinki. ReadManUtd had outlined the latest team news and predicted lineup before the Rosenborg friendly.
Carrick made only two changes at half-time before introducing more academy players later in the match. Fifteen-year-old JJ Gabriel was named among the substitutes but did not make his unofficial senior debut.
