Manchester United came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 2-1 in Stockholm as Bryan Mbeumo scored twice in the second half.
The friendly ended with Michael Carrick’s side lifting the Snapdragon Cup after an encouraging performance at the Strawberry Arena.
Atletico made the perfect start and opened the scoring after only five minutes. Arnau Ortiz sent a curling cross towards goal which evaded everyone inside the penalty area before finding the far corner.
United responded well to the early setback and began to create openings of their own. Amad came particularly close when his deflected free-kick looked destined for the net, only for Jan Oblak to produce an excellent save.

Carrick’s side continued to push after half-time and found their equaliser in the 53rd minute. Shea Lacey showed quick feet inside the penalty area before being brought down, allowing Mbeumo to calmly convert the resulting spot-kick.

The winner arrived after 74 minutes following excellent work from Jack Fletcher. The midfielder intercepted possession inside the Atletico half before finding Mbeumo, who finished from close range for his second goal of the afternoon.
Atletico threatened late on and struck the woodwork, but United held firm to secure the victory. Match coverage from 101 Great Goals also highlighted Mbeumo’s decisive second-half contribution.
Carrick will be pleased with the response after conceding so early, while Lacey and Fletcher once again made an impact alongside United’s senior players.
Victory also saw United lift the Snapdragon Cup in Stockholm as their preparations for the 2026/27 campaign continued.
