Pat Nevin singles out one ‘super’ Man Utd player after Everton draw

Luke Shaw earned praise from Pat Nevin after Manchester United were held to a dramatic 2-2 draw by Everton on Sunday.

Luke Shaw has come under pressure at times, but Nevin felt the Manchester United defender produced a strong performance at Hill Dickinson Stadium. The former Scotland international was particularly impressed by Shaw’s response during the game.

“Luke Shaw should be delighted with his work,” Nevin told the BBC. “The reaction from Shaw was superb. He can go home happy with his effects today.”

Nevin also highlighted Shaw’s work in the build-up to one of United’s key attacking moments. The left-back was able to get forward and deliver the cross that created the opening for Benjamin Sesko.

Luke Shaw and Sesko were brilliant

“Benjamin Sesko, very well done. Luke Shaw down the left-hand-side has been phenomenal today.”

The build-up exposed Everton on their right side, with Tyrique George unable to stay with Shaw.

“Tyrique George did not manage to go with him, and Shaw gets an easy cross in. George knows it was his man that left him.”

For Shaw, the comments from Nevin will offer some welcome recognition after the scrutiny he has faced these weeks over his position.

Manchester United eventually had to settle for a point after Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a late equaliser for Everton. Nevin also felt the result could be important for the hosts’ confidence.
