Ella Toone believes Manchester United Women are starting to build real momentum after a fourth straight victory across all competitions.
Manchester United beat Liverpool 1-0 at the Progress on Saturday, with Julia Zigiotti’s sixth-minute finish enough to settle the game. The result also gave Eva Olid’s side their first clean sheet of the season.
Ella Toone started the match and played 67 minutes before being replaced by Simi Awujo. Afterwards, the midfielder felt United’s fast start made a big difference.
“It’s a project. I think we’re getting better and better each week,” Toone told BBC Sport as quoted by Man Utd official site.

The victory followed a difficult opening to the campaign, but Toone believes the team have started to regain confidence through their recent performances, particularly in the cup competitions.
“The cup games have helped get that confidence back and get scoring goals,” she said, while stressing that United still have plenty of work ahead.
Ella Toone also praised the intensity United showed against Liverpool, with the early goal proving crucial.
“We wanted to come out today and have intensity,” she explained. “It was good that we came out of the blocks and managed to get that goal early.”
The midfielder is also enjoying the attacking freedom given to her by Eva Olid. The manager wants Toone to find space between the lines and make more use of her creativity.
“She wants me in the pockets,” Toone said. “Then when I have the ball, I need to play with that freedom. I need to be creative and just enjoy my football.”
Manchester United Women with the latest win provides another sign that Olid’s side are moving in the right direction.
