Manchester United is probably the most covered football club in the world and as a result some of the best journalists write about the Old Trafford giants. Here, we look at four current writers whose work is worth fans reading.

Andy Mitten: The editor of the United We Stand fanzine and one of the most highly respected United journalists around. He has also written for The Athletic and FourFourTwo.

Mitten has strong connections to the club and even sat down for an interview with CEO Omar Berrada in June 2026. A must-read for supporters.

Samuel Luckhurst: One of the biggest names in the United reporting industry and the former Chief Manchester United writer for the Manchester Evening News. He currently works as United correspondent for The Sun and is renowned for breaking transfer and managerial stories.

Laurie Whitwell: A popular journalist amongst United fans, and his coverage can be found in The Athletic. He does deep dives into tactics, explores transfer targets, breaks news and even has a spot on The Talk of the Devils podcast.

Carl Anka: Another writer for The Athletic, and he predominantly writes features for the outlet. He has achieved a strong following due to his unique style, engaging data-led analysis pieces and tactical breakdowns.
