Manchester United v Burnley: Predicted line-up

Burnley visit Old Trafford this week, with United looking to start a winning run once again with victory over Sean Dyche’s men, who are just outside the bottom 3 and hoping to get a result themselves to boost their survival hopes. Here’s how the team may look for Wednesday’s game.

UNITED (4-1-2-1-2)

GK: David De Gea – Self-explanatory. He kept United in the game at West Ham on Sunday, as he has done many times before in the season.

RB: Antonio Valencia – Solid enough defensively at Upton Park, but going forward he’s still lacking. I’d like to think Paddy McNair will get a chance or that Rafael will come back in but Van Gaal is likely to play it safe.

RCB: Phil Jones – Another bad display on Sunday, being all over the show for their goal as usual, he will keep his place though, the back-line needs as much consistency as possible.

LCB: Chris Smalling – Just over Evans. Came on for about 5 seconds at the weekend, he won’t have much to do with Burnley likely to sit back and defend, but his distribution will need to be good.

LB: Marcos Rojo – Top once again in East London. Could fill in at left back with Shaw’s absence but he performed there brilliantly for Argentina in the summer. Depending on fitness, it may be Young who comes in, with Rojo staying at centre back.

CDM: Daley Blind – The last minute saviour from Sunday, is looking a real class act, expect another good showing from him.

RCM: Wayne Rooney – Should be further up the pitch, but Van Gaal is stubborn, our captain is likely to continue his midfield role.

LCM: Angel Di Maria – Really off it recently, our record signing will look to find some form versus the team he made his United debut against back in August.

CAM: Marouane Fellaini – He will surely feature to once again cause chaos, he deserves a start, and his presence seems our most effective option right now.

RST: Radamel Falcao – Poor on Sunday. In all fairness, the service hasn’t been there for him, but he needs to sharpen up his touch and his finishing. Surely there are goals for him in this game, though.

LST: Robin Van Persie – Another surprisingly quiet game for the Dutchman at Upton Park, but he’s started every league game bar the first this season.
