David De Gea: It is near impossible to find a reason to not include David in the squad, with his form being second to none.
Antonio Valencia: With Rafael injured, Valencia has provided Van Gaal with substantial experience, but also a player with speed. With added confidence to go forward Valencia can be very hard to deal with, going forward.
Marcos Rojo: Week in week out, Rojo has been solid in the back. He knows his job and more importantly knows how to implement it.
Chris Smalling: Given how much he added to the team, including his two goals and strong defending after being substituted on early in a match a few weeks back, he slips into the team ahead of Phil Jones who is yet to find his feet after returning from injury.
Luke Shaw: Although he may look a bit weak in the back at times, the best thing for him at the moment is more starting minutes on the pitch.
Daley Blind: Has taken over from Michael Carrick in such a tremendous way that he is making it very hard for Van Gaal not to start him.
Ander Herrera: After a slow start to the season for Herrera, he has come back with more willingness and toughness on the pitch and this has been showing on the pitch, an excellent player to watch.
Angel Di Maria: The Argentine always wears his heart on his sleeve at Old Trafford, albeit he hasn’t hit the form we saw in Madrid, he looks very close to being the most dangerous player for United in the midfield and going forward.
Juan Mata: The little magician hasn’t seen many minutes on the pitch as of late, but given his class and ability he can muster up anything for the two strikers ahead of him who will relish in the chances that Mata provides.
Wayne Rooney: Without a doubt the United captain should be starting upfront due to Robin Van Persie suffering a knock against Swansea.
Radamel Falcao: We all know his ability, and despite him not shining and climbing the goal scorers’ list, what better place for him to start then at Old Trafford against a Sunderland.
