Manchester United will be looking to book their place in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley, but first they will have to get past cup holders Arsenal. The gunners have an equally impressive history in the competition, having 11 titles, just like United. Here’s how the team may look for Monday’s clash of the giants.
4-2-3-1
GK: David De Gea – Outstanding once again up in the North East, earning him another MOTM display. He has played in every round so far and will play again on Monday night.
RB: Antonio Valencia – Becoming a regular at right back now, with Rafael still nowhere to be seen.
CB: Phil Jones – United have a dreadful record with him at the back this season, but he may be vital in intercepting the link up between Arsenal’s flair forward 3 of Ozil, Sanchez and Cazorla.
CB: Marcos Rojo – Played at left back in the last 2 but expected to come back into the middle, especially with Evans now facing a 6 game ban.
LB: Luke Shaw – Missing recently with contrasting reports suggesting both tiredness and an injury, but he should be fit to play having trained the past week.
RDM: Ander Herrera – Finally getting the run he deserves, his energy and enthusiasm will be needed to attack from the off.
LDM: Daley Blind – A mainstay in front of the backline, will be key in stopping the Arsenal midfield finding space to play in.
RAM: Angel Di Maria – Hard to select him on recent performances but he still has the talent to create a moment of brilliance at any time, hopefully it will be his night.
CAM: Marouane Fellaini – Will be a handful in the box offensively and defensively with the likes of Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud all posing an aerial threat.
LAM: Ashley Young – The hero at St James’ will be in contention to retain his place ahead of Adnan Januzaj.
CF: Wayne Rooney – Play him upfront and he’ll score you goals, could have had a few last Wednesday and his desire was unquestionable in the winning goal. Will want to continue his great record against the Gunners, having scored the winner earlier in the season.
