Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur: Match preview

If ever there was a must-win fixture as the campaign draws to a close, it is this! As the race for The Champions League heats up, whichever side emerges triumphant at Old Trafford will put themselves in good stead for a top four finish. United will look to put further ground between their current 3 point gap that separates them from their opponents but not without a series of key individuals. Louis van Gaal will not have the firepower of Van Persie at his disposal to match that of Harry Kane nor will Di Maria feature. Luckily (or perhaps not so) the Argentine will only be kept from the match day squad for a single encounter, two bookable offences meant he saw red last time out. Evans is also kept out by suspension.

The London based outfit will not be subject to similar losses as they remain at maximum fitness. Van Gaal can look to restore The Red Devils’ reputation as Tottenham’s ‘ ‘bogey team’ to compensate along with formidable form at home, 11 wins in the last 13 Premier League matches. Spurs sensation Harry Kane is as good as any attempt to counteract this as he has found the back of the net in his last six top flight away appearances consecutively. Will Pochettino’s bravery and a never-say-die attitude within the camp – that has allowed the sixth placed side to come back from losing positions more than any other team in the league -sabotage United’s European aspirations?
