Revenge is best served cold. There isn’t a better way to seek revenge for our FA cup exit then to hamper Arsenal’s efforts of securing second position on the table, and better yet a win against Arsenal can put is in third spot, while they drop to their usual fourth spot.
It will, however, be no easy task, but the Old Trafford faithful could be the difference to hand the Red Devils an edge over an Arsenal outfit who will be lacking in confidence, after a heartbreaking and frustrating defeat to Swansea.
Manchester United on the other hand, having ultimately secured Champions League football by defeating Crystal Palace, are pressure-free and confident coming into this fixture. Louis van Gaal may even look to take some so-called ‘risks’ by altering his line-up and opting for players such as Angel Di Maria, in order to test him, with the Argentinian has yet been able to prove himself after a £60 million summer move. What better time to do it then against Arsenal with only two fixtures remaining before the seasons end.
Swansea were able to end Arsenal’s winning streak recently through a late header that squeezed past DavidOspina, breaking the hearts of a side who showcased a dominating game in possession and chances at goal.
Both Manchester United and Arsenal have played recent games by dominating possession and creating many chances against solid defences. It will be interesting to see if there will be any domination on the pitch, or if it will be an evenly possessed playing field. The home fans at Old Trafford have been tremendous this season, and this is sure to give United an edge in this fixture.
It would also be interesting as the van Gaal – Wenger battle heats up, as they notch more matches against each other. The fixture should provide a great battle at the dying stages of two teams fairly successful season. Nonetheless, it would be great to finish above Arsenal on the table, also avoiding the European play-offs, and a win this weekend will surely help that become a reality.
