With David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid almost inevitable, the next best attainable option in the Premier League for the Red Devils has recently admitted that it might be time to think about his future for the club.
Often heralded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, Hugo Lloris only has a Coupe de France and French Super Cup to his name, and with the increasingly lack of trophies brought in by Tottenham the goalkeeper has admitted it might be time to move on.
Speaking to L’Equipe on his future at Tottenham the goalkeeper stated: “We do not know what can happen. There is one important thing: there is a time to think about yourself… but when that time is over and the season starts, you are fully involved in the club’s project.”
The newspaper again asked him if maybe it was time to consider his future at the club, Lloris agreed: “Voilà. But we cannot control everything.”
The French captain is incredibly talented and after three trophy-less years with Tottenham it couldn’t be clearer that he is thinking about moving on from the club, but was also keen to express the fact that he does not regret joining Tottenham.
“I’ve never thought it was a bad choice,” he said. It was a natural choice linked to my desire to push myself. I had this opportunity at a good English club, so yes, this is not the club that plays for the title yet, but later, who can say?”
When asked about potentially moving for a massive fee he hinted that there is not clause in his contract claiming: “Honestly, that’s a question for the club. Nobody told me how much I am worth and I do not try to find out.”
Lloris added that, “when you have the privilege to talk directly with your president, as I did with Daniel Levy, it makes things much simpler. I know what we said, and it’s a relationship of trust”.
Whilst the negotiation with Daniel Levy is a task in itself, it is clear that if David de Gea does leave Manchester United and they do go after Lloris the player himself won’t refuse a move.
