United Launch Sensational Bid for Harry Kane

The speculation surrounding a move for Harry Kane has intensified following the striker’s removal from Tottenham’s recent friendly and the explanation of his absence by the commentator.

Clips of the match commentator stating that Kane had been removed from the match squad for Tottenham Hotspur’s friendly against AC Milan because a bid had been lodged by Manchester United have appeared online.

Reports have also surfaced in the press, with the Daily Star claiming United have had an initial approach turned down by the North London club. Tottenham are thought to value the 22-year-old centre forward at £40 million.

Harry Kane enjoyed a terrific breakthrough campaign in 2014/15, netting 31 times, and has recently been praised by Louis van Gaal. “I have seen, of course, many games where he has shown his qualities”, the United manager told reporters, “I think he is a great player, a great talent.”

Van Gaal has put a new striker at the top of his shopping list, having let Robin van Persie leave and deciding against making Radamel Falcao’s loan permanent. With Premier League experience and a superb season under his belt, Harry Kane would certainly fit the bill at United.

Former Middlesbrough forward Jan Aage Fjortoft, also in the Daily Star, believes that Kane could line-up in the weekend’s fixture at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player.

“Harry Kane not in in the Tottenham-squad”, the Norwegian tweeted, “2 alternatives: 1.Rested for game vs Man UTD Saturday. 2. Playing for Man UTD vs Tottenham Saturday.”

If the latter was to be the case, it would be one of the most sensational transfers of the window so far. Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur kick off the new season in the opening game of 2015/16 at Old Trafford.
