Aston Villa vs United – Team News

Louis van Gaal has no new injury worries ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League game away at Aston Villa.

Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo will be the only absentees from the squad, with Jones suffering from mild thrombosis, while Rojo is still lacking match fitness after his late return to training following international duty with Argentina at the Copa America.

“It’s still the same, no injuries – only illness for Phil Jones. It’s very sad of course, but we’ll have to wait and see how that shall recover,” van Gaal told MUTV.

The Dutchman added: “Rojo needs more time because he was the last now who came in. He is training double sessions sometimes. He is doing well but he needs more.”

Rojo’s lack of match sharpness with probably grant Daley Blind another runout in the heart of defence, despite much apprehension from United fans.

In his pre-match press conference at Carrington, van Gaal once again ruled out David de Gea’s involvement, saying: “No, it is the same situation. He remains out of the squad.”

de Gea’s absence will mean that Sergio Romero will keep his spot between the sticks for the trip to Villa Park.

The boss also insisted that Adnan Januzaj would not be sold in the transfer window, and was happy with the Belgian’s efforts in training. “I have 28 players and I have to select every week, and maybe every three days. Last week I chose other players. He [Januzaj] is doing his utmost best – all the players are doing that. I don’t have any complaints. He’s still not for sale,” van Gaal said.
