Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has revealed that his relationship with captain and talisman Wayne Rooney goes one step further than that of a normal manager-player bond; as Rooney has a major say in the Dutchman’s running of the club.
According to Manchester Evening News, Rooney has “special privileges” at the club, brainstorming with Louis van Gaal on matters big and small.
The Dutchman said this on the matter: “Things like the selection and the kitchen and the members of the staff, everything you can mention, he is involved.
“I think he trusts me so that is also very important and I trust him. So when he comes to me and has remarks I always pay attention.”
Rooney and van Gaal can often be seen in discussion upon the full-time whistle, and always seem to be smiling together in training pictures.
It’s excellent to know that such an important, passionate player has his voice heard by his very systematic manager – may the pair continue working together to bring silverware back to Old Trafford!
