This Sunday, Manchester United face Arsenal once again at the Emirates Stadium as one of the most famous rivalries in the noughties takes on a new personality following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
Manchester United currently sit top of the Premier League table having only lost so far this season away to Swansea whilst also recording wins over Liverpool, Tottenham and Southampton and also managed to record a hard-earned victory over VFL Wolfsburg midweek in the Champions League.
Arsenal are fourth in the table and only three points behind their opponents but have struggled at times already this season with an opening weekend defeat to London rivals West Ham and a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on September 19 – whilst also finishing the game with only 9 men.
A midweek defeat to Olympiakos in the Champions League has also piled further misery on Arsenal fans who see their side sitting at the bottom of Group F after also losing to Dinamo Zagreb whilst back-to-back games against Bayern Munich loom on the horizon.
So with Sunday’s game gearing up to be a fine encounter between two heavyweights we look back at the past five meetings between Manchester United and Arsenal below:
