David Beckham is convinced Ryan Giggs will become Manchester United manager one day.
The now retired superstar was outspoken when asked about his former teammate and backed Giggs to become a successful Manchester United manager. Giggs is currently Louis van Gaal’s assistant manager, but has been widely touted to eventually take the Dutchman’s managerial position when van Gaal departs.
Beckham was back at Old Trafford today in order to promote a charity match that aims to raise money for UNICEF. The former United number seven, will grace the Old Trafford pitch once again, alongside Zinedine Zidane, on November 14.
The former England captain played alongside Ryan Giggs for 11 years at Manchester United and both are members of the highly coveted ‘Class of ‘92’. However, Beckham believes it is only a matter of time before Giggs takes the top job at Old Trafford.
“I have always said that Giggsy has this streak running through him that you see in top managers,” Beckham said.
“I saw it as a player. He is so determined and when you have got someone like that at a club like this, someone who is from this part of the world and knows so much about this club – it’s so embedded into him – it means so much to fans, so I hope that at some point Giggsy does take over.
“It might not be for the next five or 10 years but at some point it would be amazing for the fans to have him.
“To have Giggsy sat on the line preparing himself to become a manager is exciting.”
