Louis van Gaal has demanded a response from his players after the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal before the international break.
The Gunners scored three goals in the first twenty minutes to condemn United to an embarrassing defeat at the Emirates Stadium, and van Gaal said that club was collectively responsible for the defeat.
In his pre-match press conference ahead of the game tomorrow against Everton, the Dutchman said: “We are always evaluating ourselves and we cannot accept that. Not only the members of the staff, but also the players cannot accept that from each other because we want to be the champion – so you have to behave like a champion.
“You have to improve yourself so that in the future you can be the champion. You have to improve every time, which is what I am saying.”
“It is not only the players, it is also the staff. Also, my cook Mike, because he has a big influence on the atmosphere in the canteen. A lot of people are always important in this.”

van Gaal also insisted that the performance against Arsenal will not be repeated against the Toffees at Goodison Park.
“We have spoken about this and that it can’t happen again,” van Gaal said. “That is important but it is also difficult. We started so badly and Arsenal were so good, and maybe that’s a coincidence but I don’t believe in that. I believe in preparation, in focus and in imagination. We have communicated that and spoken to a lot of players, so we have had two busy days.”
“Everton is also, for us, a difficult opponent but I am confident because I have seen the training session and the reaction of my players. But you cannot be sure to get the result you want.”
